How to Register with Gilbane for Micron Construction Work

Gilbane Building Company is Micron’s prime construction contractor for the Clay, NY megafab. If your business is in trades, construction, or related services, Gilbane is your entry point — not Micron’s website.

Register now: Gilbane is actively accepting subcontractor registrations for ground preparation, site clearing, utility corridors, and early-phase construction work. Go to info.gilbaneco.com/micron-in-new-york to register.
Section 01

Who Is Gilbane and What’s Their Role?

Gilbane Building Company, headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, is one of the largest construction management firms in the United States. Micron awarded Gilbane a preconstruction contract in August 2025, and Gilbane is managing the overall construction of the fab campus through 2041.

For most construction and trades businesses in CNY, Gilbane is the primary path into the Micron project — not Micron’s procurement team. Micron handles direct product and material suppliers. Gilbane manages everything related to building the facility.

Construction timeline: Full construction mobilization is expected in Q2 2026. Ground preparation, site clearing, and utility corridor work is active now. The construction window runs through 2041 across four fabs — this is a 15-year opportunity, not a one-time contract.

How to Register — Step by Step

  1. Go to info.gilbaneco.com/micron-in-new-york

This is the official Gilbane registration portal for the Micron project. Do not use Gilbane’s main website — use this specific URL for the CNY project.

  2. Complete the subcontractor/vendor registration form

You’ll provide company information, trade categories, bonding capacity, insurance information, and relevant experience. Be specific about your trade categories — this determines which RFPs you receive.

  3. Have insurance certificates ready

General liability and workers’ compensation certificates are typically required. Specific limits vary by contract value and scope. Have your insurance agent prepare current certificates before you register.

  4. Note your M/WBE or SDVOB status

Micron has committed to 30% of eligible construction spend from diverse suppliers. Gilbane actively works to meet this target. If your business is certified, make sure it’s noted clearly in your registration.

  5. Contact CenterState CEO for matchmaking support

CenterState CEO runs free supplier matchmaking events connecting registered subcontractors with Gilbane’s procurement team. Call 315-470-1800 to get connected.

Section 04

M/WBE Requirements on the Micron Project

Micron’s agreement with New York State includes a contractual commitment to source 30% of eligible construction spend from companies owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, with priority given to NYS Certified M/WBEs. This is a contractual target — not an aspiration — and Gilbane is responsible for tracking and reporting on it.

If your business qualifies for NYS M/WBE certification and you haven’t pursued it, this project is the strongest case for doing so now. Certification is free, takes 3–6 months, and directly improves your standing in Gilbane’s supplier selection process.

See the M/WBE certification guide for step-by-step instructions.

Section 05

What to Expect After Registering

Registration puts you in Gilbane’s subcontractor database. It does not guarantee a contract. From there, Gilbane issues Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for specific scopes of work. Registered subcontractors in the relevant trade category receive notification.

Prequalification requirements vary by contract size. Larger contracts require more documentation on bonding capacity, financial stability, and relevant project experience. Smaller scopes have lighter requirements.

Tip: Register now even if your target work is 12–18 months away. Gilbane’s database is how they find subcontractors for smaller scopes that never go through a formal bid process. Being registered early means you’re in the system when those opportunities arise.
